It will take about 40 minutes from Madrid to Alcalá de Henares.

Alcalá de Henares is located 48 kilometers northeast of Madrid on the banks of the River Henares at 587 meters above sea level. This city of great importance for the history of Spain has been inhabited by most of all cultures that ever settled in the Iberian Peninsula.

Proof of this, it is a very well-preserved city, with a strong influence by its prestigious university and its religious character, whose streets still preserve churches and monasteries. The birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes houses the second oldest university in Spain, which has provided the cultural nature of the city in recent years.

In 1998, the city was considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We will visit areas such as the Colegio de San Ildefonso, the most representative building of the University of Alcalá, as well as the Magisterial Cathedral, and then we will continue to the Cervantes House Museum, following then for the main street and for the Jewish quarter and the Plaza de Cervantes, entering the magnificent University City and visiting the Patio Cisneros. We can also see the main auditorium where the Cervantes awards are presented (these awards are the equivalent of the Nobel prize for Spanish literature).
