Sailing Between Spain & France

This unique activity brings the possibility of sailing Spanish and French waters. You will sail with Professional sailors from the beautiful fishermen village of Hondarribia to the amazing little village of San Juan de Luz in France. You will discover the coastal cliffs, abrupt mountains, bird watching and if you are a bit lucky, you will see dolphins. We will arrive to San Juan de Luz port so you are able to have a nice walk around this beautiful and full of history village. “Saint Jean De Luz” has a long colorful history. It was an important point on the coastal pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and became rich in the 16th century from fishing and whaling. The piracy, backed by the French King, further added to the town’s wealth and many of the fine houses in the town were built on the proceeds from this piracy. In 1609 the town gained notoriety when 600 of the town women were accused of witchcraft, and sentenced to be burned as heretics - happily they were saved when their husbands rushed back from a fishing trip to Newfoundland. The 'finest moment' for the town was in 1660, when Louis XIV married Marie-Thérèse of Spain in the town church - the Basque church of St John the Baptist - following the signing in 1659 of the 'Treaty of the Pyrenees' between France and Spain. The boat will be waiting at San Juan de Luz´s Port where you will sail back to Hondarribia where we will stop for lunch at an old Caserio (Basque Farm House) and then continue to San Sebastian.

A full day of fun between the two neighboring countries.
