Montserrat & Hiking (1/2day)

It will take about 1 hour from Barcelona to Montserrat.

This natural park, which emerges as if it were a dream, protects the spiritual essence of Catalonia. For almost 1000 years, a Benedictine community has lived in these mountains located 60 km from Barcelona. Its basilica houses the image of the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia.

The sense of spirituality wakes up to the mere vision of the mountain of Montserrat. Its amazing rocky outcrops, which rise in the air like sand castles, have stimulated the imagination for millennia. Legend has it that, in the year 880, some shepherd children found a statue of the black Madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site, which soon became a place of pilgrimage.

After visiting the Monastery, we will take the funicular of Saint Joan, one of the most characteristic mountain transports that leads to the Plá de Tarantulas (almost 1000 meters high) where the walk begins for approximately one hour. From there, you will be delighted with the beauty of the landscape, full of special forms with suggestive names such as the elephant, the mummy, the hats or the belly of the bishop. You will descend on foot through a route in which they will be able to see the wealth of the mountain. Upon reaching the hermitage of Santa Ana, epicenter of life in ancient times, continue to the French Pass and make the last stretch through Santa Marías, thanks to the staircase built in this place, dominated by the passage of water. From Monday to Friday, it would be possible to have some luck and be able to enter the Abbey to see the choir of children from the internationally famous Choir of Montserrat sing.

After the excursion, our driver will take you back to Barcelona.
