This town of Málaga province divides its urban area into both sides of the so-called "Tajo del Ronda", a gorge over 150 meters deep. Its old town is declared of Cultural Interest. Celts, Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs inhabited these lands, which were reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs. The old town, with Arabic reminiscences and a medieval layout, is scattered to the south of the Guadalevín River, while the most modern Ronda, the one that emerged from the 16th century, is deployed to the north of this channel. Several bridges connect these two halves of one of the most interesting towns on the route of the White Villages, in the Mounts of Ronda, a few miles away from the Costa del Sol.
